I don't know many hardcore artists, but I once saw a gang of 5 young men dressed in all white urban-looking outfits and they looked like serious business. I think they were the backstreet gang or the boys from the backstreet or something like that?
Hmmm, not sure the hard you're looking for. But since he's a mate and my favorite musician I'll recommend a few Moby tracks:

I know these songs may seem cheesy by today's standards, but I think they were the shit for when they were born. And listened to in the right light they can still hold their own.
